Last year my brother and his family went for a weekend to California and they got Nicole a beautiful starfish. And for the past 10 months it has been in a plastic bag inside a cupboard. I had no idea how to display it until I came across THIS post.
So on one of my weekly trip to the thrifty store I got a wooden embroidery hoop for less than a buck.
I used burlap since I already had some leftover from a previous profect.
At this point I attached the starfish using some hot glue and than secure it with a few stitches using fishing line.
I placed it in the kids/guest bathroom upstairs for now. There were already two other wall decor in the same wall that really do not match the beach theme of the starfish (mama elephant with baby elephant & mama giraffe with baby giraffe!!) but I will change them later.
It is such a beautiful starfish and I'm so happy that I finally found a place for it.

That is adorable and what a clever way to display it.
ReplyDeleteCute way to display just about anything. Smart to use the fishing line trick!

This is the cutest!!
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDeleteI love that!! I must make one for my MIL, she collects beachy-starfish art :) xo
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI: Hopefully that is not a real starfish. In order to get a starfish to be flat it must be pinned/nailed to a board, WHILE ALIVE, and allowed to die. It is very cruel. If you see a starfish on the beach put it back in the water.
ReplyDeleteI'm passing through some of the blogs and thought id stop and say hello. And i hope that you folks have a very nice fall weekend. Richard from the Amish community of Lebanon Pennsylvania.
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of using an embroidery hoop as a frame!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to display it - the fabric is a perfect color for a beachy item.
