Asparagus Quiche With Ricotta Cheese

This YUMMY recipe was given to me last year by my good friend Elena. I always make it when I have steamed asparagus leftovers or for a buffet.

INGREDIENTS
Crust:
2 cups Flour
1/2 cup Butter
3/4 cup Ricotta Cheese
1 tsp Salt
Filling:
1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese
1/2 Shredded Cheese (I used Mozzarella)
7 to 8 stalks boiled asparagus + some for decoration
Ricotta Cheese
3 Eggs
1 tsp salt

For the crust:

I used my Thermomix food processor. Combine flour, butter, ricotta cheese and salt.

Roll out the pastry on a floured surface; about 1/4-inch thick. Fit into a 9-inch pan

For the Filling:

With ht food processor mix Parmesan, shredded Mozzarella and the asparagus. Remember to leave some for decoration.

Add Ricotta Cheese, eggs and salt and mix everything.

Pour the filling mix in the pan

Arrange the extra asparagus and bake for 30-40 mins at 350°.

Here is what it will look like when is done

Enjoy! Thank you to Rhoda @ Southern Hospitality for the tutorial on how to enlarge pictures!

Organizing Receipts

Usually I'm pretty good on keeping together all my receipts but lately I noticed that it would take me more than usual to find the one I'm looking for at the moment.

I keep receipts of electronics, home appliances, tools, clothing (because most of the time I get home and I realize that I really didn't like it so much or wrong size!), gifts (especially the one I get for my brother because he doesn't like surprises so most of the time I have to change it!!). I have a box in my bedroom where they all go inside. It worked great, but I wanted something more organized.

Over by the Dollar Section at Target I got for $1 a plastic organizer wallet.

I started dividing the receipts an labeled each section:

  • Lowe's & Home Depot

  • Electronics

  • Clothing

  • Sam's & Costco

  • Appliances

  • Warranties

  • Miscellaneous

It was also the right time to go thru all the receipts and throw away the ones I don't need no more. I still keep the organizer in the same box as before, but at least now they are all nicely organized!

My Craft Cupboard

Yesterday afternoon I finally cleaned up and reorganized my craft cupboard! Unfortunately I don't have a craft room and I'm still thinking rather to use the guest bedroom's closet or a armoire I have upstairs and transform it in a craft space, maybe something like this!
For now I keep most of my craft supplies in a cupboard in the kitchen, also because I'm always around the kitchen area during the day so everything is handy!

My computer is also near here so I also keep my Silhouette in the cupboard.
As you can see it was a mess! I haven't organize it for months now. Stuff that didn't belong there was waiting for a spot to be replaced: toys, documents, pictures , etc...

The containers were also a mess!

I took all out and started all over.

I used all sort of containers: got 3 shoes containers at my local grocery store for $1 each.

In one there are scissors, punches, sticky tape and glue gun (not picture because it was up stairs!)

Here I have all the leftovers of previous projects: cone cello bags, matches boxes, stickers, cardstock tags, etc...

Just SOME of my ribbons are stored here, waiting for a more practical way to be organized.

I used a pencil box to store the cables for the Silhouette, extra blades and sketch pens.

I found this idea of using empty salad containers to store things here . Used this Baby Spinach Mix Salad container for vinyl rolls and transfer paper.

A big zip lock bag for scarp paper leftovers.

And an empty Pappermint Bark container I saved since Christmas for hair accessories and beads.

Now everything is nice and organized.

FINALLY!!!

Decorating A Plain Frame

Tomorrow I'll be join Amanda's I {Heart} My Crafty Cutter Linky Party. I got a Silhouette last summer for my birthday. I love it! You can do so many things with it. Lately I haven't use it as much as I would like to. But here something I did yesterday for my daughter's room:

I got that frame from West Elm 2 years ago as a present and never used it. It was too plain so I decided to add some color on it.

The butterflies were already in my library, so those were free, just had t cut them. I did more indifferent sizes to see which ones looked better on the frame.

I made three roses out of crepe streamer, two leaves out of felt and two butterflies out of cardstock.

Than used my hot glue gun to put everything together.

Another easy and FREE project because I used everthing I already had at home!

Ni-Hao Kai-Lan Hair Clips

A small post about something I made a few months ago for my 5 yrs old daughter. She used to like Ni-Hao Kai-Lan so with some felt scraps I made Rintoo and Kai-Lan hair clips.

I first draw them on paper and than free-hand cutted all the felt.

After I just attached them on alligator clips.

Enjoy your weekend!

Guest Bathroom Cabinet Makeover

Another Home Goal 2011 off the list! We finally painted the guest bathroom cabinet and updated the faucet.

The previous owner painted the cabinet in a light brown color (the same color was on a huge entertainment center that was in the house and in a wall as an "accent"). It was not even nicely painted. The inside of the doors and the bottom of the cabinet was not even painted!Anyway, here we are to the rescue!

Took down the cabinet doors , sand the whole thing out and painted it.

We went with a dark espresso color. Behr Ultra Semi Gloss - French Roast, it is paint and primer all in one.

I got the hardware from Home Depot, I think I paid $6 (I got a Twix too!!). We updated the faucet with a new one and I found a soap dispenser at Home Goods, it is made of bamboo and is the same color of the cabinet!

We still need new towels and to frame the mirror but for now I'm happy about the makeover!
