DIY Fall centerpiece in a box

Over the past few months my dining room table was looking bare. I couldn't find a nice runner or big centerpiece to fill the space. Than I saw THIS centerpiece on Pinterest and decided it was the perfect one for me too!!

It was the week before Halloween and in a few days we were hosting a dinner for the hub's birthday so I started getting everything to build the wooden box and fill it.

This will also be my Christmas centerpiece (picture it with green garland, ornaments and so on!!)

If you would like to make one too here is what you will need to make the box. I got everything from Lowes.
1X10X4 Top Choice Wood
and 2 1X4X6 Top Choice Wood
Wood Stain. In my case I picked "Kona" by Rust-Oleum

(Here is a pic I took with my phone when I realized I was not taking pics of the whole process!!)

And the actual sizes of the the box are:
9 wide
4in.1/4 high (I would suggest to make it smaller, easier to fill it, I had to add a tablecloth at the bottom)
3ft 7in long

I got the leaf garland at Michaels (it was already on sale) and all the pumpkins and indian corn at the grocery store.

  3. Mine was bare too. And this weekend I took care of that. Had the Brawn of the operation follow my directions and he did good. Just gotta fill up my new centerpiece. Glad both our tables are no longer naked.

  4. It looks beautiful! I love how it takes up so much of the length of the table but you still have room for plates. Great job.
